Earth Day
Taking Care of the Planet
Earth Day is April 22nd! Here at The Preserve we take great pride in being an Eco-Glamping Resort. We are always looking for ways we can not only minimize our impact on our surroundings but also help the environment thrive! Let’s look at a few of the ways The Preserve protects the beautiful land that surrounds it. As well as 3 Ways You Can Help the planet this earth day!
WHAT MAKES US AN
ECO-GLAMPING RESORT?
We are always looking for ways to take care of our environment. We want to preserve The Preserve so it remains a beautiful sanctuary for years and generations to come.
-We do NOT use chemical pesticides.
-We said no to plastic and use compostable cups at the Provisions Outdoor Bistro
-We worked with Trout Unlimited to restore the Battenkill riverbank, enhance fish habitat, and plant trees & native vegetation to promote a healthy ecosystem.
-We manage fields to enhance habitat for grassland birds.
3 THINS TO DITCH THIS
EARTH DAY
–Ditch the plastic water bottles. Not only do they pollute the earth but they are very toxic, and a waste of money! Save the health of yourself, your wallet, and the earth, when you invest in a stainless steel or glass reusable water bottle and take that with you instead.
–Ditch the plastic wrap. Use scrunchie covers made of fabric, beeswax “plastic” wrap, reusable plastic wrap, or even just a glass storage container. You can even use your dishes, by putting your food in a bowl and covering it with another plate. Get creative!
–Ditch the plastic sandwich bags. Crazy that the average person throws away 540 plastic baggies a year (that were only used once)! Instead opt for reusable sandwich bags, paper bags, or even putting your sandwich & snacks in tupperware or a bento box instead.
Did you know?
According to the U.S. Department of State, roughly 8 million metric tons of plastic go into the world’s oceans every single year. Given that most plastics are not biodegradable, they are likely to remain in the environment for centuries to come. The largest accumulation of plastic debris in the ocean is known as the “Great Pacific Garbage Patch” and is twice the size of Texas.
